What stats are most important to review to understand the success of my site?

This varies website to website but if i had to make a list of essentials:

• Visitors
• Goal Conversion #'s and %'s
• Average page views

I would analyze these stats above in combination with all visitor segments/sources side by side. In other words, look at the average page views coming from PPC traffic, Natural Traffic, specific keywords, direct traffic, etc... Some may be higher, some may be lower. There’s lots of great information in comparing these metric. Having them side by side will help you figure out what may need improvement or adjusting.
