Should I buy domain names with keywords in them to get Google positioning faster?

I am starting a new business with my brother and we want to know if we should buy domain names with the keywords in them. The business is for mortgages in Atlanta. Should the domain name be something like www.atlantabestmortgages.com?

You could have a website called www.XYZLoans.com that outranks www.atlantabestmortgages.com for the keyword: "Atlanta Mortgages" because Google finds it to be a more relevant resource over your website. The site may have better backlinks, better varied anchor text and generally more relevant, regardless of the domain name.

The search engines DO read URLS, so keeping the URLs as themed as possible is important but buying domains with the exact keywords seems a bit spammy to me.

Go to Google.

Search for: NETWORK SECURITY SOFTWARE

Notice not one of the websites has a spammy looking domain using those exact words? That's proof enough that the domain alone won't take you to Page One of Google.

Focus on creating a resource that is absolutely necessary for your target market, make sure your pages are optimized for the keywords you wish to target and build back-links that support your theme.

Good luck.
